The teacher explains to the students they will be using stones to create a design to tell a story. The teacher then encourages students to be thoughtful in their stone selection and design they create. Examples will be shown. Children will select a bucket full of stones to create their design. Then students will begin working in silence. Once the student is finished, they will use a clipboard, paper and pencil to draw a sketch of their creation. Working with an adult, the student will tell their story and the teacher will write it in the exact words given. Student will share their drawing, narration and stone design to the class.
