Each spring, the SCSD Educational Foundation presents its Annual Recognition Breakfast. The Board of Directors selects the award recipients each year based on their contributions and commitments to the children, curriculums, and programs of the Syracuse City School District.
Recipients have included major corporations, business executives, individuals, and community leaders. In addition, the Foundation provides District teachers, administrators and staff to nominate their peers for our Annual Educator of the Year Awards. We encourage corporations, individuals, school administrators, and community leaders to participate as sponsors or purchase tables or seats at the event.
Due to public health concerns and with an abundance of caution, the SCSD Educational Foundation, in coordination with the Syracuse City School District and Superintendent Jaime Alicea, has decided to postpone its 17th Annual Recognition Fundraising Breakfast. The breakfast fundraiser was scheduled for Saturday, March 28that the Holiday Inn Liverpool. The event has been postponed and will now be held on Saturday, September 26th, from 8:00 – 10:00 AM, still at the Holiday Inn Liverpool.
The Foundation has chosen to postpone this important event proactively to ensure it was still possible to reserve a date later this year at the Holiday Inn Liverpool, and to ensure the health and safety of breakfast attendees, including teachers, students, community leaders, and sponsor representatives.
We thank all event sponsors and guests, award recipients, hotel management, and school district administrators for their understanding of this decision amid these unsettled and unpredictable circumstances and for everyone’s concerns regarding the prevention and containment of the coronavirus in Central New York.
All sponsor commitments, sponsor benefits, and ticket holders from the March event will be honored for our rescheduled fundraising breakfast in September. Should the new date create a conflict for companies and/or individuals committed to attending and supporting our event, the Foundation will provide refunds for any donations or ticket purchases that have already been submitted. The Foundation will circle back with all sponsors, guests, award recipients and presenters in late summer when we restart planning for the event.
The Foundation’s Recognition Awards, Educator of the Year Awards, acknowledgements, and the event presentations will remain the same in September. In addition, the Foundation’s Annual Golf Tournament will be hosted as planned at The Pompey Club on Monday, August 10th
