The Cougar Café will be a way to empower special class students with the curricular, social, work-based, and organizational skills necessary to be college and career ready. The Cougar Café will be run by students, supported by parent-partners, and teacher supervisors. 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will work the café as a supplementary activity. The skills required to work at the café will be taught during special class lessons, and will be centralized around CCLS, CDOS skills, and student’s IEP goals. The café will be open during lunches and special events. Clary students will visit the café during their respective lunches, and will purchase items using “cougar cash” (PBIS paper currency). The café supports school wide PBIS initiatives, helps to build positive school climate and culture, and serves as a way to engage all stakeholders.
