This interdisciplinary project will enable 5th grade students to expand their knowledge of the history of the City of Syracuse and gain an awareness of what it means to be citizens of a broader community. Students will research the history and architecture of Syracuse and select images to interpret as ceramic relief tiles. Each student will produce a glazed ceramic tile depicting their chosen work of architecture of the City of Syracuse. The tiles will be assembled and mounted as a mural which will be installed on the walls at Salem Hyde.
