MARILYN JONES LIFE AND LIVING THROUGH ARTS GRANT
Music meets silk is a collaborative project where the students in grades 3-5 will learn to create their own short piece of music and then transfer it to silk using the resist method of painting. Along with the history of silk and silk screening, the students will learn new techniques associated with painting and dying in order to transfer their original composition to a silk circle for display. They will also experience how salt can be used to add visual texture to an art piece. Once the music inspired silks are finished, the students will get to play their music composition for their peers and attempt to play some of the other pieces created.
