Foundation funds for this project will include a field trip to Orenda Springs to support the Building Men Program in MSAP@Phoenix Center. The purpose of the Building Men Program is to support boys as they become young men of character inspiring others. This program provides young boys in the Syracuse City School District an opportunity to becoming young men of positive significance, integrity, and to value and build relationships. We strive to accomplish this mission by encouraging the boys to become “A” man, not “The” man. The journey includes many different opportunities to experience and discuss authentic manhood. Some of the opportunities available are to attending chalk talks, speakers, participating in community service projects, and peer mentoring events. The culminating event is our rite of passage trip and ceremony. During this experience we have a continuous discussion of the meaning of “A” man in today’s society
